21 feet 00 gauge wagon chassis

21 feet 00 gauge wagon chassis 3D print model

Description

This wagon chassis is made for 00 gauge. It comes without couplings and wheels, but does include NEM pockets. The top view shows where you need to cut to free each part. The chassis can be used for general wagons, allowing you to fit a top to it yourself. In real life the length over headstocks would be 21'. Dimensions: 10 x 3,5 x 1,7 cm

This drawing printed well, flat on the plate with no supports needed. I used Elegoo ABS-Like, Grey resin. This gave the model the resilience needed when flexing it to fit bearings and needle-point, 11.5mm , spoked wheels. The frame is finely-proportioned, with basic detail. It will reward any time I can spend adding details like bolt heads, brackets and springs. I had to edit the file to allow for wheel bearings and needle-point wheelsets. Also, I had to change the coupler fitting plates. I use Kaydee #5 couplers that need 11.5mm clearance under the frame. I used 3DBuilder to draw and edit. For my HO layout, I aim to use this base to make an early 1900s, simple, 3rd class, passenger carriage that ran from Broken Hill (NSW, Australia) to Tarrawingee.
