Woolworth Building

Woolworth Building 3D print model

Description

The Woolworth Building is a 792ft (241m) tall skyscraper in New York City. The building was completed in 1913 as the tallest building in world, a title it held for over 25 years. Designed by legendary architect Cass Gilbert, it was designed in an exquisite Gothic Revival style. Its design was heavily influenced by European cathedrals, leading to the tower being nicknamed the Cathedral of Commerce. It notably was built before the introduction of the 1916 Zoning Law, which mandated the setbacks that characterize many of New York's most iconic skyscrapers. Gilbert and Woolworth shaped the building with soon-to-be ubiquitous setbacks to allow sunlight to reach City Hall Park below. While today the building is far from the tallest building in the city and Woolworth's stores have disappeared, the Cathedral of Commerce still stands as one of New York's most recognizable and beloved skyscrapers. In recent years, its upper floors have been converted to ultra-luxury condos.

Because this building is particularly tall, there are 2 ways to print it. One file (WoolworthComplete.stl) contains the entire building in one piece. Another option is to print the building in 2 pieces, separated roughly halfway up the tower portion (WoolworthPart1.stl and WoolworthPart2.stl).
