I always liked this spiral form. This form is mysterious and stylish. The existence of physical and biochemical mechanisms causes the growth pattern of sunflower seeds to follow the Fibonacci sequence. From sunflower seeds to artichoke flowers, many features observed in plants follow patterns that match the sentences of the Fibonacci sequence. Each sentence of this sequence is the sum of the two preceding sentences. In this way, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13... are the first few terms of this known sequence. Researchers have shown that following these patterns causes the configuration of plant organs such as flowers, leaves and seeds to form and accumulate optimally so that plants have the most access to light and nutrients. This has transformative advantages. But how does the plant find out in what order it should grow to match this optimal morphology. According to an article published in Physical Review Letters, following Fibonacci patterns may be a result of the existence of fundamental physical and biochemical mechanisms hidden in the growth process of plants.
