NXTMOD Extruder Cover for Ender 3 v2 and other Creality models

NXTMOD Extruder Cover for Ender 3 v2 and other Creality models 3D print model

Description

NXTMOD Extruder Cover for keeping the moisture away from your filament.

I live in Florida where the relative humidity outside is like 99% for most of the summer, and relative indoor is high as result, and we all know filament and humidity do not play well together. I store my filament in a sealed file box with a desiccant dehumidifier unit inside. But I wanted a way to store the active filament in that container too and not have to unload/store it in between prints (sometimes 2-3 days in-between).

This design was intended to be plug&play with the stock extruder on my Ender 3 v2. Part of my goal was to not have to disassemble anything. In particular, I did not want to take the extruder apart as it prints perfectly right now. You do need to remove 1 screw on the Z-guide, and after clipping the 'frame' on, reinsert the screw and lightly tighten. Also, recommend making sure the other screw is good and tight. For the 'cap' I found it easiest to click the rear edge locks into place before pushing the front down completely.

Please leave comments or post suggestions for enhancements.

For file box: Used off-the-shelf 1/4OD PEX water tubing (for refrigerators) and a 1/4ODx1/8MIP Sharkbite. I tapped the side of my box (3/8 drillbit and screwed fitting right on) and put my filament roller chassis inside the box. The filament is sealed all the way to the extruder. The file box itself is IRIS USA WEATHERTIGHT File Box from Walmart for about $18.

3D PRINTING SETTINGS Printer brand: Creality Printer: Ender 3 Pro Supports: Yes, touching buildplate, >2mm Infill: 15%

Notes: After importing 'cap' STL into your slicer, make sure to re-orient the design so it prints upside down.
