Description:This is a custom-engineered spool holder upgrade designed specifically for the Bambu Lab A1.
NOTE: Spool holder fits older version of original A1 spool holder ONLY, which has removable horizontal arm.
The Problem:A common issue during high-speed printing is that the intense vibrations of the printer can cause the filament spool to keep spinning (coast) after the extruder stops pulling, leading to loose filament loops, potential tangles, and print failures. Standard holders offer very little resistance.
The Solution:This upgraded holder features an integrated spring-loaded friction mechanism. This mechanism applies a subtle, constant resistance to the spool during rotation. This gentle tension is precisely tuned to be strong enough to prevent the spool from freewheeling due to printer vibrations, yet light enough not to affect the extruder’s pull force. Your filament will always stay neatly wound.

3D printing settingsMaterial: PETG recommended for the spring-tensioned parts and wings to ensure long-term flexibility without deformation (creep). PLA might lose tension over time.
Wall Loops: 4-5 for main shaft amd adapter, 2-3 for the rest parts.
Infill: 25% or higher.
Supports: no supprts.
Seam type: random, to eliminate single point of resistance for spring.Orientation: Print parts in the orientation provided in the STL files for optimal strength.
As it's no-bearing design, you can use silicon based grease to ease fiction between shaft and core as well as spring and core.
