When designing items, I'm always looking for new designs to add, during 2025 and the repair of the bridge on the SVR I noticed they used these concrete blocks to help repair the bridge and it made me consider doing them as a design. These concrete blocks are now found everywhere and have many uses, so I thought they would be a great addition for people modelling the modern era.
When out and about, I have only ever seen one basic shape that is 1600mm x 800mm x 800mm, but on investigating and researching, there are many more shapes for these interlocking concrete blocks. I have included most of them for you to download and print.
The most common block is 1600 x 800 x 800, and in OO scale this is approximately 21mm x 10.5mm x 10.5mm. These have been designed in such a way that they can be printed on FDM or Resin printers and accommodate different printer accuracies, allowing them to be stacked together.
Please see photos of the different blocks that are included.
This item has been designed at OO gauge, 1/76.2 scale. For HO Gauge print at 87%, 1/87 Scale, for TT print at 63.5% 1/120 Scale,For O Gauge UK print at 175%, 1/43.5 scale,For O Gauge International print at 158%, 1/48 scale, for N Gauge UK print at 51.5%, 1/148 Scale, (Caution: I have not test printed this in N gauge scale).
This item can be printed on a resin or filament printer; for smaller gauges, it might be best printed on a resin printer. As normal with my designs, there is a balance between accuracy and printability, hopefully not affecting the design of the model too much.
I have tested this design on a Bambu Labs A1 FDM printer using a 0.4mm nozzle. I have also printed these with no supports.
