To avoid melting the plastic, while burning backflow incense, I have found it's best to cover the incense opening with aluminum foil (optional), and stack a couple metal washers for the backflow incense to sit upon. Just poke a hole in the aluminum foil, and make sure the holes in the washers are lined up with the incense smoke flow opening.
