HISTORICAL NOTE: HMS Swordfish was an experimental submarine built for the Royal Navy before the First World War to be an overseas submarine capable of reaching 20 knots (37 km/h; 23 mph) on the surface. Diesel engines at the time were unreliable so it was proposed to use steam turbines to meet the requirements of the Royal Navy.
