HISTORICAL NOTE: Foca Class, or simply F, was the first naval class of submarines in the Brazilian Navy. It was made up of the F1, F3 and F5, submarines designed by naval engineer Cesare Laurenti and built in La Spezia, Italy. The class was part of the navy's 1906 naval program to acquire modern warships. The navy incorporated the class on July 17, 1914 and, with this, expanded its naval structure to house the new Submarines, such as the Naval Submariner School and new support and logistics ships.
