DESCRIPTION

This a scale reproduction of a Roman Trireme Battle Ship dated at the Roman Empire period; it is based on drawings produced in 1861, afer the order of the French Empereor, by navy researchers.

The ship has a lenght, between perpendiculars, of 39.25m and a floating lenght of 39.7m, a width of 5.5m and a draught of 1m.

As a war ship the prow was equipped with a bronze ram ('rostrum') very effective in crashing sides of enemy vessels an rapidly sinking them.

At same time a mobile bridge, fitted with metal hooks ('corvus'), was present and used to board other ships and let roman warrior to easily fight on them.

A similar ship could bring on bord, in addition to 130 sailors and rowers, about 100 navy soldiers.

The present model, has been developed complete with internal structure and rowers and can be considered ready for animation.

Having been used many textures, model dimensions can be higly reduced replacing textures with flat colors, in case the ship is represented far away.
