DESCRIPTION

Reproduction of a 1st order Fresnel lens similar to the one used in St. Augustine Lighthouse, Florida.

The Optical System has an height of env. 3.5m and a 2m diameter (12' x 7').All prisms have been carefully aligned in order to project light horizontally from the lamp positioned in the Focus.

The Lantern System and their gears are Animated, actually turning clockwise, in order to directly use the model in existing lighthouse towers or far marine scenes.

No texture has been used in order to reduce model dimension.

Three kind of lights are used for the Lantern to have a faithfull result:- a ball object, positioned in the system focus, emitting in all directions through an emit material, useful to obtain mutual reflections inside the prism in daylight scenes,- an internal screen object limited by side screens lit, again, through an emit material, but in frontwise direction only, useful to have the lens system and prisms lit when looking to fhe lantern in night scenes,- one or a system of parallelely oriented volumetric spot lights representing the rotating beam, necessary also to lit far objects passing in front of the lighthouse. The Lighthouse Tower shown in one of the Turntables is not supplied: it has been added from an other model of ours, sold under the name of Cape Aghulas Lighthouse.
