William grew more and more aggressive in his pursuit of the throne, while Edward tried to maintain the peace and keep the kingdom united. But eventually, their differences could not be reconciled, and war broke out.

The two armies clashed on the battlefield, each side fighting for their chosen king. It was a brutal and bloody conflict, and many lives were lost.
