What is a Decal?

A decal in CG, just like in real life, is essentially a sticker, however, decals in CG can be used for much more than adding a neat warning label on a model, they can be used to add additional 3D detail without adding actual geometry. This is very useful if in videogames, were the amount of resources each model uses must be as efficient as possible in order to mantain as high and consistent framerate as possible. But it they can also be used to speed up render times considerably since again, no actual geometry exists. Its simply a lighting trick that makes the object look as if it was 3D when it isn't. This pack makes consists of just such decals.
