DESCRIPTION

The 105 mm M101A1 howitzer (previously designated M2A1) is an artillery piece developed and used by the United States. It was the standard U.S. light field howitzer in World War II and saw action in both the European and Pacific theaters. Entering production in 1941, it quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and a powerful punch. The M101A1 fires 105 mm high explosive (HE) semi-fixed ammunition and has a range of 12,330 yards (11,270 m), making it suitable for supporting infantry.

A beautifully textured and detailed model that imported into Blender 3.6.2 with no problems using the provided Blender import file. Major issue: One of the two tires has most of its normals flipped the wrong direction and I had to fix it. Minor issue: No Ambient Occlusion (AO) texture map provided. I am a model railroading hobbyist who creates freeware 3rd party mod content for the Trainz Railroad Simulator (TRS22). I use purchased 3D models on my own created freeware routes and share it with other TRS22 route creators, but only under the license provisions. This model was easily adapted for TRS22. I exported this model into Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 (TRS22) and it looked exactly as it should and was trouble free, after my major issue fix. I am pleased with the overall quality and appearance of this model, except for the issues mentioned, and recommend it to others, especially those who need content for computer games and simulations!
