The VSS-M Vintorez barrel rail is modern rail system mounted on the Russian VSS-M suppressed marksman rifle, which allows attachment of accessories along the barrel area. The VSS-M is a modernized version of the classic VSS Vintorez that uses rail instead of older Warsaw Pact-style mounts, giving it much greater compatibility with contemporary optics and tactical accessories. The rail itself is typically a Picatinny rail that runs over or alongside the barrel shroud forward of the receiver, letting users mount items such as lights, lasers, bipods, or other attachments that aid in marksmanship.
