model of a modern Israeli automatic machine of 5.56 × 45 mm caliber manufactured by the Israel Weapon Industries concern. The name of the machine comes from Mount Tavor (Tabor), in northern Israel, mentioned in the Old Testament, and index 21 denotes the focus of weapons in the 21st century. The development of IWI was first introduced to the public in the mid-1990s under the designation M-203. Later, in order to avoid confusion with the grenade launcher of the same name, the machine was renamed AAR (English Advanced Assault Rifle - a promising assault rifle). After some time, the weapon was given the final name Tavor TAR 21 [1]. Unlike a number of other samples of this company, the new machine was not a rework or modernization of other weapons.
