About Soviet Maxim machine gun model. The Soviet Maxim machine gun, a variant of the original Maxim gun, was a revolutionary firearm that saw widespread use throughout the 20th century. Developed from Hiram Maxim's design, it was adopted by the Soviet Union in the early 20th century and produced as the PM M1910 model. This heavy machine gun played a critical role during World War I, the Russian Civil War, and World War II.

The Maxim featured a recoil-operated mechanism and water-cooling system, ensuring sustained fire during prolonged engagements. It was mounted on distinctive wheeled Sokolov carriages, allowing for mobility in rugged terrain. Chambered for the 7.62×54mmR cartridge, it delivered impressive firepower with a rate of fire around 600 rounds per minute.

Despite being replaced by lighter, air-cooled models like the SG-43 in later years, the Maxim retained its place in military history for its reliability and resilience in harsh conditions.
