DESCRIPTION

A game ready, stylized set of 8 wooden crates and 2 wooden pallets with 4K PBR textures. The models are highly optimized for use in game engines: they share a single trim sheet texture to minimize draw calls and memory usage. The textures are also channel packed to save texture memory.

The models range from 208 - 856 tris. There are 4 cuboid wooden crates, 4 rectangular wooden crates and 2 wooden pallets.

The trim sheet texture comprises of 4K PBR textures in TGA format. The textures are provided as both individual PBR maps, and as channel packed textures ready to be dropped into the game engine.

The channel packed textures include: RMA Texture for Unreal Engine (Roughness, Metallic and AO packed into a single texture) and Unity Packed Texture for Unity (Smoothness, Metallic and AO packed into a single texture.)

Content of Product:

  • Individual FBX files of 8 Wooden Crates and 2 Wooden Pallets
  • Individual Blend files of 8 Wooden Crates and 2 Wooden Pallets
  • A 4K PBR trim sheet texture set (Diffuse, Normal, Roughness, Metallic, Ambient Occlusion)
  • Channel Packed Textures for Unreal Engine and Unity (Stored in their respective subfolders together with instructions on how to use them)
  • Instruction on how to set up the materials in Unreal Engine and Unity.

Unreal Engine Instructions

  1. Drag and drop the FBX file into Unreal’s content browser. In the Mesh Import settings, CHECK ‘FORCE FRONT XAXIS’.
  2. Drag and drop the Diffuse, Normal and RMA Texture (in the Unreal Engine folder) into the content browser.
  3. In the Normal texture settings, CHECK ‘FLIP GREEN CHANNEL’. Refer to the image ‘Flip Green Channel’ for reference.
  4. In the RMA Texture texture settings, UNCHECK ‘sRGB’.
  5. The RMA Texture is channel packed as follow:
    • Red channel: Ambient Occlusion
    • Green channel: Roughness
    • Blue channel: Metallic
  6. Create a new material and follow the setup shown in the image ‘Unreal Material Setup’ in the Unreal Engine folder.
    • The Ambient Occlusion map (RMA Texture’s red channel) is optional, use it only if you want to accentuate the AO on top of the ambient occlusion rendered by Unreal.

Unity Instructions

  1. Drag and drop the FBX file into Unity’s asset browser.
  2. Drag and drop the diffuse and normal textures into the assets browser.
    • Make sure the normal texture’s texture type is set to ‘normal’ in the inspector. (Unity usually automatically sets it upon import, but sometimes it may not)
  3. Drag and drop the Unity Packed Texture texture from the Unity folder into the asset browser. In the inspector for this texture:
    • UNCHECK ‘sRGB’
    • CHECK ‘ALPHA IS TRANSPARENCY’ (required as Unity reads the smoothness map from the alpha channel of this texture.)
  4. The Unity Packed Texture is channel packed as follow according to Unity specifications:
    • Red channel: Metallic
    • Green channel: Ambient Occlusion
    • Alpha channel: Smoothness
  5. Create a new material and assign the texture as shown in the ‘Unity Material Setup image’ in the Unity folder.
  6. You may want to set Unity’s color space from the default gamma to linear. Linear color space gives a better representation of texture colors. You can find the setting in Edit > Project Settings > Player > Other Settings > Color Space.
