Description
  • A walkie-talkie, more formally known as a handheld transceiver (HT), is a hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver.
  • Its development during the Second World War has been variously credited to Donald Hings, radio engineer Alfred J. Gross, Henryk Magnuski and engineering teams at Motorola.
  • If you want to be prepared with trusted, reliable communication no matter the circumstances, you need a set of two-way radios.
  • They are an essential tool for many jobs, including security and emergency services, construction, pubs and clubs, and other workplaces where regular communication is key.
  • Each battery-powered handset contains a transmitter (which doubles as a receiver), an antenna for sending and receiving radio waves, a loudspeaker that also often functions as a microphone, and a 'push-to-talk' button that, unsurprisingly, you push to talk.
  • The loudspeaker-cum-microphone works like an intercom system.
