A bit of history:The Sony Walkman TPS-L2 cassette player is the first commercially available personal stereo cassette player. Over the next 20 years, these devices became an indispensable accessory for both professional and casual listeners, and changed the way they listen to and enjoy music. Several names were proposed for this completely new class of devices, including Soundabout and Stowaway, but the third name, Walkman, stuck. Only in later examples Walkman was written on them, in earlier examples the word “Stereo” was simply embossed on the cassette door.The Sony Walkman TPS-L2 cassette player uses the main body and mechanical parts of the TCM-600 cassette recorder. The only mechanical changes were to install the stereo cassette head and remove the record key, erase protection lever, erase head and tape counter. The deck's mechanical characteristics, originally designed with speech and dictation rather than music in mind, were found to be suitable for reproducing music with high fidelity, a clear demonstration of the high quality technology found in Sony's more elite tape recorders.Thanks for your purchase, have a nice day!
