Basic Character Rig for modo

Basic Character Rig for modo 3D model

Description

This character is a basic rig for modo601 to learn from and use the bones and deformation system. The native file format is LXO, Luxology's modo601.

The model is a simple SubD character using some fur for its hair and just a couple image maps for the eyes. The rest is a skin material and there are no UVs needed or setup for this character.

The character rig is a symmetrical bone structure that was applied using a heat map binding to the character, with manually modified weight maps to ensure smooth deformations at the hips, shoulders and hair areas. There is a keyframed position, and one pose setup to use and everything is zeroed out in the setup position. Eyeballs are spheres but deformed into place using a transform deformer that squishes them on the X-axis by 65% so they properly fit into the oblong eyesockets. Each eyelid can be easily controlled by its corresponding location you can see at each eye and the eyes target another location to control what he looks at.

The rest of the character can easily be manipulated and animated using the bones, keyframes or modo's new pose tool.
