Originally, the Werehog was called Evil Sonic within the development team due to his uneven, rough-like appearance, but because the word evil has connotations of a villainous character in Western countries, Sega of America suggested the name Werehog.[4][5] Despite this, he is still called Evil Sonic in the final game's files.
