YILDIZ PALACE SALE KIOSK
Sale Kiosk, which is a part of Yıldız Palace and named as 'chalet' meaning 'mountain hostel' in French, is commissioned by Sultan Abdulhamid II. It is one of the noteworthy examples of 196 century Ottoman architecture. It consists of three parts built at different dates. The original part dates from 1880; the second part was designed by Sarkis Balyan in 1889 and the third part known as the Merasim Köskü (Ceremonial Pavilion) was completed in 1898 by the Italian architect D'Aranco. Last two parts were added for hosting German Emperor William II during his visits to Istanbul. The Sale Kiosk has the characteristics of a 'state guest house' within the group of Yıldız Palace structures. The kiosk made of wood and stone has 60 rooms and 4 halls. It attracts attention with its furniture, decoration and especially with the Hereke carpet which is 406 square meters.
