any tips on how to render this on a transparent bG? when I do this, the model disappears...

Oh, just tested what you have said and I'm getting the same thing, fixed up the error, appeared to be in my material was set up wrong for blenders transparency system, I'm now uploading the updated Blender file, should be finished uploading within 5/10 minutes of me posting this :)
