Weirdopter

Weirdopter 3D model

Description

The weirdopter is a portmanteau for 'weird helicopter'. Weird because it's built from wood and is square; which violates all possible known laws of aerodynamics.

Despite its weird appearance the model is absolutely animatable. The doors open, door handles turn, rotors twist and engines tilt. All arrows and buttons are animatable too, not to mention flight control and pedals.

Powered up by 2 impellar engines of 2 rotors each, scaled for an average humanoid type model about 160-190 cm tall.

The weirdopter has a luggage compartment. Passenger seats can be easily removed (hidden) in case you need more space inside. Throttle levers are behind the control. Amongst standard instruments we decided to add GPS (shows world map) and compass to show the direction of the flight.

All objects in the scene are linked properly and are linked to the main object, the weirdopter itself. You can easily scale the weirdopter to make it look, for example, like toy.

All objects are organized in layers.

We are not sure one can use the weirdopter as a prototype for a real helicopter so if you do, it's at your own risk :) .

  • The objects in the scene do not support additional subdivision (turbosmooth or meshsmooth).
  • The weirdopter scene contains a short 500 frame demo animation.
  • All materials are standard. No lights in the scene, no cameras.
  • The native model format is 3ds max 2019 but we also added 3ds max 2016 version and FBX format.

Please put all files into the same folder. Depending on the application and the file format you may need to reassign textures used in materials.

Thank you and enjoy :)
