The soda vending machine is a vending machine for the preparation and sale of carbonated drinks, the basis of which is a saturator (an apparatus for saturating a liquid with carbon dioxide) - was invented in 1770 by the Swedish chemist Thorbern Olav Bergman and improved into an industrial plant for the production of mineral water artificially saturated with carbon dioxide in 1783 by Johann Jacob Schwepp, a German watchmaker and jeweler, entrepreneur and amateur inventor
