A strictly scientific, uncoloured STL derived from cryo-EM density. Includes the outer capsid and internal capsid–genome contact features for educational visualisation and 3D printing.
DescriptionThis Human Rhinovirus A2 (HRV-A2) model is extracted directly from cryo-EM data, preserving true icosahedral morphology and the internal capsid–genome contact topology visible in the density. No artistic smoothing or stylisation beyond print readiness—ideal for scientific/educational use, classroom demos, and research visuals. The mesh is watertight (manifold) and ready for slicing and printing.
FeaturesScientific accuracy: Derived from real cryo-EM density (no cartooning).Capsid + Genome Contacts: Preserves inward-facing capsid–genome contact features as resolved in the map—great for explaining genome packaging/interaction.Print-ready STL: Clean, watertight, single solid mesh; easy to scale.Education-focused: Perfect for teaching virology, symmetry, and genome–capsid architecture.
What You Get1× STL file — Human Rhinovirus A2 (capsid + genome contacts), uncolored mesh.(Digital download only. No physical item.)
Usage & Print TipsImport & scale to your desired size (e.g., 60–120 mm diameter for classroom handling).Supports: Recommended (spherical geometry). Resin printers capture contact details best; FDM works with fine layers (≤0.12 mm) and a 0.1–0.2 mm nozzle. Suitable for PLA printing.
Reveal internal contacts:Print in translucent/clear resin, orSlice the model in your slicer to print a hemi/cutaway for a clear view of capsid–genome contacts.Post-process: Remove supports; optionally paint regions to highlight contacts vs capsid.
Not intended for medical or diagnostic use.
