Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) presents as a common inner ear disorder, characterized by symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, and nausea. Our Vestibule model serves the dual purpose of diagnosing BPPV and facilitating canalith repositioning training. This model is 25 times the actual scale of human labyrinth.
Designed with a magnetic base for physiological orientation, utilizing 8 5x5 mm magnets, this model features three septums resembling crista ampullaris, preventing stones from passing through the ampullated-end. Meanwhile the non-ampullated-ends open into the vestibule. Printed with transparent resin, the model has some drain holes allowing for resin drainage after printing.
Wash the model with ultrasonic bath in IPA. A vestibule hole permits fluid and stone insertion, with a cap used to seal once the lumen is filled with sewing machine oil. Print some 2-3 mm stones. To maintain transparency, after sealing the lumen, apply a thin layer of transparent resin and cure it with UV light. Don't wash again with IPA.
With this model, practitioners can learn various maneuvers and potentially discover new ones, all while achieving satisfying results in BPPV diagnosis and canalith repositioning training.
