USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is a Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the first of a new class of aircraft carriers in the United States Navy, and the lead of the class. She is named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford, who served in the Navy during World War II.
