DESCRIPTION

The Standard Oil Building, otherwise known as 26 Broadway, is a 520ft (158m) tall skyscraper in New York City. The building was completed in 1928. Its base follows the curve of Broadway as it runs past Bowling Green Park. The tower portion is rotated to align itself with the other towers of Manhattan's Financial District. It's impressive design was inspired by the ancient Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, featuring a gas lamp on the top of the building to guide ships in New York Harbor.
