DESCRIPTION

Optimized layout for a print in place caged bearing. The goal of this design was to minimize the contactpoints between all moving parts, while still having a high bearing stiffness (see pic 3). However there is still a bit of play The idea is, to have a usable, easily customizable bearing resistant to corrosion due to harsh (salty) outdoor weather There are 2 version included, a circulair (pic 2) or hexagonal (pic 1) exterior. There is also a test file of the internal cage + rollers, to dial your settings in. The test should have minimal to no stringing, no blobs and minimal to no hanging bits. Rollers should be easy to rotate after removing the test from the build surface (see pic 6).The hexagonal exterior helps when breaking the rollers lose from the races, since there is no tolerance between the rollers and the races. However due to the minimized contactpoints between them, they loosen up rather easily.Dimensions and amount of rollers can be adjusted upon request. This design cant handle axial forces.

Dimensions:Hexagonal: 34mm O.D. 9mm I.D. x 12mm circulair: 30mm O.D. 9mm I.D. x 12mmThere is a designed in tolerance of 0.30mm between all parts, except between the rollers and races.

Print settings:This model is designed to be printed laying flat on its back/front. Takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to print Recommened to be printed with a 0.40mm extrusion width, 5 shells and a 0.20mm layer height
