Tom and Jerry is a series of short cartoons created by American animators William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

The storyline of each part depicts (with elements of light worldly satire) the rivalry of the main characters - Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse [1]. The pilot issue of the project The Cat Gets a Kick was released on February 10, 1940 [2]. Following their success, the Hanna-Barbera duo wrote a further 113 episodes that were screened in theaters before feature films until 1958. After the closure of the animation department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, from the 1960s, the cartoon was created at the Rembrandt Films studios (English) Russian. and MGM Animation/Visual Arts (eng.)
