Captain Alexander Smollett is one of the main characters in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. He is also a character in numerous films based on the novel.

A possible prototype for the captain could be the famous Scottish writer, author of picaresque novels on a maritime theme, Tobias Smollett, who in his youth sailed in the British Navy as a doctor (presumably the images of all the other main characters in the book also have real prototypes)[1].
