3D Printable Upgrades for PotP Volcanicus

3D Printable Upgrades for PotP Volcanicus 3D print model

Description

This is a Complete set of 3D Printable Models to upgrade the PotP Volcanicus. This set includes the sword and Wing set both of which can be mounted to the Back Armor. This set has some modifications/tweaks to improve over my previous version for the Oversized BMB set. The Wings in this set will requires some screws after they are glued together. You will need 4 6-32 3/4 screws and 4 4-20 1/2-3/4" screws. The 4-20 screws are for the hinged area that allows the wings to fold in on themselves and the 6-32 screws are for the rotation points of the wings.

-All of the print in place joints will require some mild force to seperate the contact points and a well calibrated printer is required for the tolerances in the joints otherwise some joints may get permanently fused. -For the Ankle pivot joint excessive force will be required to break the joint free as it has a soft ratchet built in to ensure the joint can support the weight of the figure.

Wings will require glue as they are designed for easy printing. The sword will also require glue to bond both sides together. -The majority of components will require support material -For loose joints I suggest the use of mod podge in the joint a coat or two will stiffen up the joint(However I just to wait until paint is complete first). -I use two pair of needle nose pliers to delicately free each joint one at a time on each hand. I hold one segment with one pair and use the other pair on the next segment to snap that joint free. There is nothing special about the Print settings I use however I will list what settings I do use below.

Firstly I use Cura 15.04.6 - Layer height was 0.2(Layer height is up to you the finer the cripser looking the print), Shell thickness 2, Bottom/Top Thickness 1, Fill Density 16-20, Print speed 45 mm/s Printing temps depended on the filament I used as it varies based on the brand. I used Filaments.ca Eco tough filament at 206c and bed temps at 65c. The majority if items require support material. Retraction 60 mm/s distance 5 Initial layer thickness 0.3. Cool Minimal layer height 5mm, min fan speed 50% max 100%, min speed 10mm/s Cool Head lift on. I use a CR10 and a CR10S for all my prints. I have a build tac surface and use no glues or other items to get the print to stick to the bed as these are not required and could affect your difficulty in freeing up the joints in some of the prints.

The entire set including 2 sword uses less then one roll of filament.

The Lingk below is for the assembly video for the BMB version of this set, the only real different is the wing assemblies now require the addition of some screws https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIG3Tc0s9q8

I bought these and they are printing pretty well in resin except for the print in place models like the hands. Would you happen to have a model where the hands/fingers are individual objects?

If you load the print in place model into Cura(I use cura 15.04.6) and right click on the item there is an option to break the model up. You can then save the individual pieces as their own stls

Thanks i will try that. By the way, i have found scaling this up to 105% fits POTP Volcanicus better than at 100%. The tolerances are much better. I'm guessing the resin print is not exactly 1:1as the fdm is. Looking great for me so far! I will post pics when finished. Thanks again for this!
