Whilst walking around the factory at work, I noticed oil drums are now stored on large cabinets for safety. These cabinets contain drums of oil, and I thought these cabinets would be ideal for any modern depot as a scenic extra.
This design in for printing on FDM printers and the cabinets have closed doors and are solid objects that are designed for printing on FDM printers. I am also doing a set of designs for resin printers that I can add other detail.
The resin version will be hollow and have drain holes to reduce the vacuum effect when printing. The resin version will also have doors in the open position.
For FDM, I tested this model on a Bambu Labs A1 and A1 mini. I used a 0.4 and the print came out well, but I would definitely recommend printing it with a 0.2mm nozzle with a minimal layer height.
The Larger Cabinet is approx 75mm Wide, 42mm High and 21mm Deep in OO GaugeThe Smaller Cabinet is approx 42mm Wide, 36mm High and 20mm Deep in OO Gauge
Designed at OO Gauge, 1/76.2 Scale.for HO print at 87%, 1/87 Scale.for O UK print at 175%, 1/43.3 Scale.for O International print at 158%, 1/48 Scale.for N gauge print at 51.49%, 1/148 scale. (Caution: I have not printed this model in N gauge so can’t guarantee its printability but probably best printed in resin)
As normal with my designs, there is a balance between accuracy and printability, hopefully not affecting the look of the model too much. These models have been designed for printing on an FDM printer.when printing, I printed in the correct orientation and used standard supports (Not Tree). These supports are for the base and the overhang just above the doors.
For small detailed items, when printing on my FDM printer, I used a 0.2mm nozzle, which gives you a far better quality print.
