The story of the sword

Glamdring is a legendary sword wielded by Gandalf the Grey, a prominent character in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. Crafted by the elves of Gondolin in the First Age, it is imbued with magical properties and bears an inscription in Elvish runes. Gandalf wields Glamdring throughout Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, using it in numerous battles against the forces of darkness. The sword is known for its elegant design and ability to glow with a blue light when orcs are nearby. Glamdring is one of the three legendary swords, along with Orcrist and Sting, discovered by Thorin Oakenshield's company in The Hobbit.
