Papio, also known as baboon or dog monkey, is a genus of mammals in the family Cercopithecidae, order Primates. The genus was described by Erxleben in 1777. The type species of the genus is Cynocephalus papio Desmarest, 1820 (= Simia hamadryas Linnaeus, 1758). The genus belongs to the subfamily Cercopithecinae, with a total of five species. They vary in size and weight.
