HISTORICAL NOTE: **HMS Powerful **one of two protected cruisers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s. She was assigned to China. In 1899 during the Second Boer War she supplied landing troops who fought at the siege of Ladysmith. After a long refit, in 1905 Powerful became the flagship of Australia's fleet. In 1929 she was written off when she was sold for scrap.
