Star Wars T65b X-Wing Starfighter

Star Wars T65b X-Wing Starfighter 3D model

Description

Detailed model of a Star Wars original trilogy era X-Wing starfighter, including pilot.

60,000 vertices (not including subsurf and bevel modifiers where appropriate). Features animated undercarriage with a single custom control to raise and lower it, and animated wings with a custom control to open and close them.

The model is divided into three primary full PBR materials - the main fuselage and undercarriage; the wings, engines and guns; and the pilot and R2 unit. Each material has base colour, metallic, specular, roughness and normal maps. The fuselage and wing maps are all 4k, the crew maps are all 2k. The cockpit canopy also has a glass material using the colour and roughness fuselage maps, and the pilot's helmet visor a simple glass material. There are also separate objects to add a engine exhaust with a simple emission material (use a glare node in compositing to add a glow).

Note: Vertex count in the .obj and .fbx versions is closer to 400,000 (767,000 tris). Also the materials may not import correctly in .obj, however each texture map is clearly named so it should be easy to relink them. The custom controls and rigging are only available in the native Blender format, the wings are built to pivot around the central origin point of the whole model but the undercarriage may require more work to reanimate (especially if using the .obj format which resets all the pivot points).

Hello! Can you please show some pictures of the cockpit? Thanks!

I can't post pictures in these threads - if you send me a message I can show you some, but to be honest the cockpit is very low resolution, there's no modelled detail at all just some simple planes with a texture map. The model was designed to be used for mid to distant shots where the entire vehicle is in frame at the same time, and the interior was only detailed enough that it looks like there's 'something' there at that kind of range. If your camera is close enough that you require any level of detail in cockpit then I doubt that the geometry and textures on the exterior are going to be holding up very well either - it's simply not intended for close up work like that I'm afraid.

Not sure exactly what you mean. It's modelled to 'real-world' size so the wingspan is about 11.76m.

Looks great, textures are available for editing, has animated controls for the wings and landing gear.

Well constructed X-Wing model - one of the best I found that were reasonably priced. Articulated undercarriage very helpful for my purposes (used it in my short film 'Rogue Squadron')
