1/31
This model has been inspired by the 9K31 Strela-1 mounted on the BRDM-2 chassis. The texture represents one of the camouflage patterns used by this vehicle.
The model itself was created in a way that makes it suitable for easy rigging and animation. This means that parts that are commonly animated are separate objects (wheels, AA component, individual missile hatches etc.)
To change the texture (in Blender), simply select a different texture under the skin material.
- This model does not include a modeled interior.
The 9K31 Strela-1 (NATO reporting name SA-9 Gaskin) is a Soviet short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system designed to provide mobile air defense for mechanized and armored units. Introduced in the late 1960s, the system is mounted on the highly mobile BRDM-2 amphibious armored vehicle, allowing it to keep pace with frontline troops while protecting them from low-flying aircraft and helicopters. The vehicle carries four ready-to-fire 9M31 infrared-guided missiles mounted on external launch rails. These missiles are designed to engage aerial targets at short ranges using passive infrared homing, allowing the system to operate without emitting radar signals that could reveal its position. Thanks to the BRDM-2’s amphibious capability, high mobility, and relatively compact size, the Strela-1 system is capable of operating across a wide variety of terrain, including rivers and rough ground. Powered by a gasoline engine, the vehicle can reach speeds of approximately 95–100 km/h on roads and maintain effective mobility alongside mechanized formations. The Strela-1 was widely exported and used by many countries around the world, becoming an important part of Cold War-era mobile air defense networks. Variants and modernized versions continued to serve in numerous armies for decades, often alongside newer systems. This BRDM-2 Strela-1 3D model is ideal for military games, simulators, VR projects, real-time engines, and defense visualizations, providing a detailed representation of one of the most recognizable Soviet mobile SAM vehicles.
