Sarubobo is a lucky charm in Hida Takayam, Japan.
They were decolated in maternity room as an amulet for easy delivery in old times.
After that traditionally ,grandmothes made them for their grandchildren as dolls wishing happiness.
They are made of cloth ,and looks like a monkey baby, so it called 'Sarubobo' .
In Japan monkey is 'Saru',baby is 'Bobo'.
There are various sizes ,from the size of a thumb to the size of plush doll that can be held.
Now thy are popular souvenirs in this area.
