Corvette is the smallest type of Imperial ship that is still considered a stand-alone warship. Although they have neither impressive weapons nor heavy armor, the corvettes proved to be quite efficient ships. High speed and maneuverability allowed these ships to fight on equal terms with much more nimble corporate, and later, pirate ships. Not surprisingly, most of the ships that survived the War of Greed were corvettes that successfully dodgedfrom the deadly attacks of the Corporate Alliance. Although since then the Imperial Space Fleet has received many modern and much more powerful ships, corvettes remain the backbone of Earth's space defense forces.
