Description
JGSDF High Mobility Vehicle (Koukidousha) 3D Model
This is a 3D model of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) High Mobility Vehicle, based on the Toyota Mega Cruiser.
The model was created in 3ds Max 2023 and rendered using Blender.
This model is intended not only for rendering and visualization, but also as a reference for learning 3D modeling techniques.
- Clean topology and naming conventions
- Organized layer and UV structure
- Basic but structured rigging setup
While not an exact 1:1 replica of the real vehicle due to limited public references, the model is well-structured for use in rigging practice, UV layout studies, or as a clean base mesh for further refinement.
Rigging Features
This model includes basic rigging (note: this is not a fully rigged setup):
- Body pitching and rolling
- Tire compression during pitching (no compression during rolling)
- Tire movement linked to steering
- Tire rotation based on body movement
These are simplified rigging setups, suitable for basic motion and presentation, not intended for advanced animation.
File Formats
- 3ds Max 2023 (.max)
- FBX (.fbx)
- Low-poly and high-poly OBJ (.obj) (OBJ files do not include rigging)
UV & Texture Organization
The model uses a UDIM layout, with each UV tile corresponding to a specific mesh group.
- Layer names are clearly organized by UDIM tile
- Ideal for high-resolution texturing workflows and UDIM pipelines
- The UV layout maintains consistent texel density across all islands and is designed with symmetry in mind, making it easier to apply textures manually even without tools like Substance Painter
- Layer groups:
- Tire
- Bonnet
- Front_Belt
- Platform
- Body_Rear
- Under01
- Under02
- Suspension
- Rear Suspension
Textures
- All textures are 4096×4096 PNG
- 45 total texture maps (Albedo, Normal, AO, Roughness, Specular, etc.)
- Includes mud/dirt texture layers for added realism
- Texture folder provided as a compressed ZIP archive
- Texture sets are separated by UDIM and labeled accordingly
Texture VariationsThis model includes two texture variations, located in separate folders: Texture and Texture\_B.
Please note that the texture files within each folder have the same names. To use a specific color or detail variation, ensure you are using the textures from the corresponding folder and avoid overwriting files between folders.
Preview & Documentation
- Includes standard renders, turntable video, and wireframe images
- Wireframe overlay is displayed with bright line color for visibility against dark gradient background
- Additional preview image shows UDIM-layered structure
- README file included
Notes
- The interior is not modeled
- Model accuracy may be limited due to lack of publicly available reference dimensions
