DESCRIPTION

The model above is a close representation of a KA-BAR knife. I decided to change the look of the handle a bit (honestly that was because I had a bad reference image and I realized at the end it was not the generic shape). It was widely used by US military forces and marines. It is a great tool for cutting through flesh, for opening cans, capable of dealing massive bleeding. The model is made so that it has been quite a lot of time, you can see the blade is worn and the handle is scratched.

Technical InformationsBy buying the asset, you'll get full access to the model. The model has been created, bearing in mind that it should be a sudbivision-ready asset, meaning you can add an unlimited number of subdivision without destroying the model, with an increasing level of detail if you prefer to have a closer look of the model. Above, you can see multiple wireframe views, respectively without sudbivision, with a level 1 subdivision, and a level 2 subdivision. Without subdivision, the model has 4,682 polygons. You can also remove some edge loops if you really want to have your model on point and as optimized as possible.

PolycountThe model has been created by bearing in mind that it should be able to be subdivided afterwards without a problem. You can have a nice looking asset whatever the distance of your camera is, by increasing the amount of detail in a non-destructive way. You can also remove some edge loops if you really want to have your model on point and as optimized as possible.

TexturesBy buying the asset you'll get access to 3 sets of texture, one in 4096x4096, one in 2048x2048 and the last one in 1024x1024.

FormatsFor compatibilty reasons, the models available are in different formats. .fbx , .abc , .obj (with a .mtl) , .stl and .x3d. The native .blend is also included. Because the model is subdivision-ready, you are given a low-poly version of the model that you can subdivide very easily afterwards, and a high-poly version which is exatcly the same but with a Subdivision level of 2 applied.

What is in the download?A .zip archive with all the texture sets inside (4k, 2k, 1k and 512) All the 3D formats mentionned above, including the native .blend

CautionThis model is NOT 3D printable. Don't expect it to work, I strongly advise you not to purchase the model if you intend to print it, as it could end with unexpected results. If you encounter any issue by using the model, feel free to send me a message so I can help you out. Note that by buying this asset you'll get me fatter and I thank you for that.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
