The first three cathedrals in the world today are Catholic: St. Peter's Cathedral, Milan's Cathedral, and Seville's Cathedral, and there are 1,520 pontifical sanctuaries in the world, most of them in Europe, especially in Italy.
Churches in Europe are divided into four main architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Modernist churches, but there are also a few other styles of churches.
