A conference room or boardroom is a room designed to hold individual events, such as business conferences and meetings. It is usually found in large hotels and convention centers, although it can be found in many other institutions, including even hospitals. Sometimes other rooms are modified for large conferences, such as arenas or concert halls. Airplanes have been equipped with conference rooms. Conference rooms may be windowless for security purposes. An example of one such room is the Pentagon, known as the Tank. The facility usually has furniture, projectors, stage lighting, and a sound system.Smoking is usually prohibited in conference rooms, even if smoking is permitted in other parts of the building.Sometimes the term conference room is used synonymously with conference center, such as the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall. Some conference rooms are equipped with software to manage reservations based on the needs of the company that owns them. Typically, medium to large offices or educational institutions have small meeting rooms, often referred to as conference rooms or huddle rooms.
