DESCRIPTION

This model deals with a construction of a model of a single-cylinder static steam engine driven by an external heat source. As a result, a design solution of a steam engine in a configuration with a flat slide valve and an open crosshead guidance was designed. The model serves as a teaching aid for understanding the principles of the earlier piston machines and for explaining the basic machine mechanisms and thermodynamic process. The saturated steam that is generated in the boiler flows through the valve into the slide chamber, in which the steam is distributed to the cylinder by means of a flat slide. The slide is driven by an eccentric mounted on the crankshaft. The steam pushes on the piston, which transforms the translational movement into a rotary one by means of a complete crank mechanism. A flywheel is located on the crankshaft, as well as a pulley that drives the regulator. He then regulates the steam by means of a throttle valve. The slide chamber and cylinder are lubricated with a solid lubricant that is resistant to higher temperatures.
