The Tang Dynasty Sancai Heavenly King Terracotta Warriors are accompanying pottery figurines with protective functions in Tang Dynasty tombs. Their image originated from the Buddhist protector god and evolved into a warrior style with feet on ghosts and armor after localization. As an important carrier of Tang Dynasty funeral culture, the Heavenly King figurines often appear in pairs in tombs, reflecting the funeral concept of treating death as life through their majestic posture and intricate glazed decorations. Since the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty, this type of terracotta warrior gradually replaced the traditional tomb guarding warrior terracotta warriors and became the standardized configuration of the tomb ritual and security system.
