Tang Sancai refers to a process in which pottery is fired to 1100 ℃ and then glazed again, followed by secondary firing in a kiln. It uses lead as a flux and copper, iron, cobalt and other elements as coloring agents to produce colors of different shades. During the reigns of Emperor Gaozong and Empress Wu Zetian, their colors were mainly green, yellow, brown, and white. During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the firing of Tang Dynasty tri colored pottery reached its peak. There were numerous tri colored figurines with hard texture, uniform glaze color, bright and lively colors, colorful shapes, and lively decorations. In addition to the aforementioned colors, blue is widely used. Tang Sancai made it a typical masterpiece of pottery figurines during this period.
