The Series 7 Chair Leather Upholstered has been created by Arne Jacobsen for the brand Fritz Hansen. Danish architect and industrial designer Jacobsen's chair designs were a great international success. Many, like the Series 7 Chair Leather Upholstered, a 1955 design, are still sought after today. It has a shell made of compression-moulded veneer. The nine layers of compressed veneer ensure that the shell is strong and durable and allow for it to be shaped into graceful curves. The chair's backrest is wide at the top edge and then tapers towards the bottom. It then broadens out again into a generously-sized seat. The shell is fully upholstered with premium quality aniline leather from the Grace brand. The shell sits on a frame of tubular steel that is finished with chrome. The legs, which have gliders underneath, extend just beyond the edge of the seat. Apart from its aesthetic appeal, this detail allows for the chairs to be stacked for storage.
